He attended the University at Tennessee at Knoxville where he was heavily involved in both academic and extracurricular organizations. In addition to being elected to the positions of Alumni Relations Chairman, Chapter Editor, Philanthropy Chairman, and Vice President of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and serving on the Beta Sigma Executive Committee, Mr. Hickerson was also inducted into both the Sociological and English Honors Societies. For his involvement with the University and the fraternity, Mr. Hickerson was awarded the Clark M. Roberts Memorial Scholarship for service. He also received the Provincial Balfour Leadership award and was named an International nominee. Upon graduating from the University of Tennessee, he returned to Memphis to attend law school and began working at Bailey & Benfield. While in law school at the University of Memphis, Mr. Hickerson participated in various legal competitions including the Advanced Mock Trial, wherein he was a semi-finalist, and the Freshman and Advanced Moot Court Competitions. In addition to participating in the scholastic competitions during and outside of school, Mr. Hickerson was also elected to serve in various leadership roles within the Student Bar Association. During his three years at the law school, Mr. Hickerson served as a class representative. Auction Chairman, Barrister's Committee Chairman, and President of the student body. He was also a student-member of the Leo Bearman Sr. American Inn of Court and was awarded the Professor Walton W. Garrett Scholarship and the Dean's Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Hickerson continued to work at Bailey & Benfield throughout his law school career and ultimately accepted a position as attorney in 2007. He now practices in the areas of Legal Malpractice; Medical Malpractice; Wrongful Death; Personal Injury; Automobile Accidents and Injuries; Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect; Products Liability; and Burn Injuries.
